Client Objectives

Cresa is providing project & development services for the expansion of the Nurture Nature Center in Easton, where a new planetarium is currently under construction to enhance the organization’s science and environmental education programming. Funded through a combination of federal and state grants, the project requires careful cost control, transparent procurement, and strict compliance with public funding requirements.

Cresa’s engagement began with early cost estimating to validate scope and budget, followed by facilitation of the public bidding process, evaluation and descope of contractor bids, and contractor selection. The goal was to establish a clear financial and procurement framework while preparing the project for successful execution.

Results

Cresa has continued to represent the client throughout construction with regular site visits, review of payment applications, and evaluation of change orders to maintain financial accountability and schedule alignment.

The team proactively addressed logistical challenges through coordination with the City of Bethlehem and MetEd to manage required electrical infrastructure upgrades, while maintaining consistent communication with neighboring stakeholders to minimize disruption. Cresa also coordinated closely with the specialized planetarium vendor, aligning installation requirements with core construction to ensure seamless integration of building systems.

Beyond the building scope, the project includes the transformation of an existing asphalt parking area into an interactive community garden, enhancing the site’s accessibility and educational value. Upon completion, the planetarium will serve as a cornerstone of the center’s mission, offering immersive, hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity and lifelong engagement with science.
